Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981 she began covering the White House. In 1988 she became the head of the congressional reporters. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and participated as an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable stories over time, including the tax reforms, budget reforms, and the Iran Contra saga. She travelled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
